Still Fightin'

- Lyrics & Poems -

A collection of lyrics by Irish singer/songwriter Paul Murphy.

The 29 pieces presented here come from 2 sources - a series of songs composed early in 2026, towards the end of his battle with an auto-immune condition; and a cache of previously-unpublished material dating from 1998 and 1999 that had been lost in his archive for nearly 30 years.

Almost all the material here is dark and uncompromising - the 2026 material dealing with worldwide injustices, his wasting away from F-MND, and social commentaries; and the recently-discovered pieces taking pen to the shades and shadows of misplaced love and failing relationships.

Four pieces do break from the harshness - the long-lost LGB support anthem 'You're Going Through Some Changes', two unabashed love songs, and 'Please Don't Go', a passionate argument against suicide.

In the main, though, this anthology comprises what Paul in his song essay describes as 'dead-centre shots at people who aren't doing their jobs - in government, in hospitals, in the judiciary, in society and... in their relationships.'

Also included are reproductions of the original handwritten manuscripts, images from online performance videos, and a song-by-song essay, Miscalculations, detailing the background and back-story to all the works.
