The complete lyric to Irish singer/songwriter Paul Murphy's epic break-up song, described by its author as It's a tear-streaked traveller crossing a flooded river on the stepping stones of a broken marriage.

Recorded in five separate parts, necessary due to his disability from a muscle-wasting disorder, the full song runs to over an hour in length, and has been described as an act of defiance against fate up there with Samson.

Written as an allegorical narrative, the tale takes the protagonists from love to heartbreak, despair to reflection, and makes ports of call at acceptance, remorse, confusion, blame, compromise, and anger.

I based it on so many divorces, so many breakups. Among them, but not limited to, is a couple of relatives - or so they claimed! - of mine; a guy I used to know, heck, back in the late 1980s, who else - oh yeah, an actress and her husband; maybe a bit of Dylan's 'Idiot Wind' is in there, there's an ex-Beatle - you know, lots. Maybe Lot herself! One of those slow-burner songs, you know, you don't realise it's cooking away until you smell burning, then you have to pour the ingredients out fast and put them on the sill.
