In The Sports Card Collectors Club, Vol. 1, I approached the hobby as an investor. Drawing on my 25-year career in financial advising, I explored sports cards through the lens of asset allocation, market cycles, scarcity, and pricing inefficiencies. I examined what happens when Wall Street thinking collides with cardboard collecting and shared the lessons I learned by putting my own money on the line.
But The Flip Life is a different kind of journey. This is the story of life inside the hobby. It's about ripping packs, chasing rookies, hunting for hidden gems, and discovering opportunity in unexpected places, from basketball, baseball and football cards to non-sports cards such as Pokémon and VeeFriends.
Along the way, you'll find stories from card shows, eBay sales, box breaks, collecting wins and losses, market observations, and the relationships that make the hobby special. You'll see how a simple passion for collecting can open doors to new friendships, new ideas, and even new opportunities beyond the cards themselves. This isn't an investment manual, and it isn't a traditional memoir. It's a front-row seat to the modern hobby and the adventures that happen when curiosity, entrepreneurship, and collecting collide.
If Vol. 1 was about understanding the value of cards, Vol. 2 is about experiencing the joy of the hobby itself.
