High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles! Ranger Body armor is a ballistic vest that was used by the 75th Ranger Regiment and others in the 1990s and 2000s. It has been replaced by Ranger Armor Vest, as well as CIRAS and other special operations vests among United States Special Operations Command troops. It is manufactured by Protective Materials Company, HS Manufacturing, and Ceradyne. With two standard aluminium oxide plates, a Ranger Body armor vest weighs 11.4 kg (25.1 pounds). Due to its heavy weight, some Rangers dumped the vest, which resulted in serious injury or death. Ranger Body Armor (RBA) was designed by the United States Army Soldier Systems Center in Natick, Massachusetts to meet the operational needs of the 75th Ranger Regiment. RBA consists of a two part system: a flexible vest and two ceramic plates, both of which provide ballistic protection to the upper torso.
