Despite the increasing capabilities and widening variety of software tools for power system transients, in many cases, the primary problem in parameter determination is the lack of reliable tests and conversion procedures. Illustrated with case studies, this book discusses how to collect the information needed to obtain model parameters for both electromagnetic (lines, cables, transformers) and electromechanical (rotating machine) transient studies and reviews procedures for deriving those parameters. It also provides modeling guidelines for the selection of adequate representations for main components.
