What would you notice after two decades spent observing how executives and assistants actually work?
After twenty years in executive operations, more than 7,500 conversations with administrative professionals, and over 400 one-on-one discussions with leaders, Hilani Ellis began noticing patterns that few people have the opportunity to see.
One stood above the rest.
Administrative professionals often believe the next step in building a more fulfilling and impactful career requires something more-a new title, another certification, additional responsibilities, or the next opportunity. Yet the greatest advantage may already exist within the role they have today.
Their proximity.
Every day, executive operations professionals are given a front-row seat to leadership, decision-making, trust, influence, and organizational dynamics. Those experiences quietly shape judgment, perspective, and professional growth-but only if you know how to leverage them.
The Proximity Advantage isn't another book about managing calendars, organizing inboxes, or becoming more productive. It's about recognizing and using what's already in play to build a career you're excited about. Through stories, observations, and lessons gathered across thousands of conversations, Hilani reveals how proximity can become one of the greatest career advantages in executive operations.
You don't need to become someone else.
You simply need to recognize the advantage you've had all along.
