3BMETHOD(TM)
The 3Bmethod(TM) is the behavioral engine of this book - a method derived from a concept built to explain Why SMART Employees Make M!stakes. It breaks human behavior into three constructs that reveal the real conditions behind a deviation. Once you understand these constructs, you can read behavior with clarity instead of guessing. This is the foundation for categorizing a HerD correctly.

This is the investigation process - a behavioral RCA (bRCA) that can stand alone or enhance traditional RCA tools. PROBE THE HerD(TM) highlights cognitive load, cognitive hotspots, and the behavioral signals that matter. Combined with the 3BM Prediction Tree(TM) - a decision tree tool derived from the 3Bmethod(TM) - it directs you to the correct behavioral category so you can identify the true root cause of the Human Error related Deviation.
