This book presents three methodologies for addressing water leakage in WDNs. The first develops a mathematical model for leak localization using biogeography-based optimization to determine two unknown parameters. With these parameters and pipe characteristics, the exact leak position can be identified. The second methodology denoises pressure signals using a Savitzky-Golay filter on a laboratory prototype, achieving leak localization via time-difference calculations. The third methodology uses discrete wavelet transform (DWT) and Donoho thresholding on a larger prototype, evaluating quality via SNR, NCC, and MSE. Time differences combined with pressure wave velocity enable accurate localization across diverse scenarios. The book also discusses correlators' limitations, including false alarms from environmental noise and infrastructure damage. Vibration sensors and transient analysis are explored as alternatives. This research advances precision and robustness of leak detection, offering practical, cost-effective solutions for WDN maintenance.
