Power electronics is one of the fields that deals with and controls electrical energy and its conversion. Inverters are static converters that facilitate the exchange of energy between a DC source and an AC load. Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) techniques are essential for the proper operation of inverters. Optimal modulation determines the switching angles in advance, taking into account the amplitude of the desired output voltage and the harmonics to be eliminated. This book presents the method for solving systems of nonlinear equations to determine the appropriate switching angles and presents and discusses the results of optimizing the control angles using the Newton-Raphson method through simulation in the MATLAB environment. Furthermore, using the Code Composer Studio (CCS) tool and a TMS320F28335-type DSP circuit, the practical results of implementing optimal modulation for a three-phase inverter powered by an induction motor are presented.
