The year is 1950 and the war is 5 years in the past. Rory's company has grown out of all recognition to a leading supplier of goat's cheese through-out Ireland and beyond. The tourist part now operates over Kerry permanently booked over a year in advance. The expansion has brought changes from the hands-on approach to new management styles and strategic thinking. The village has expanded and new housing in modern styles is taking some of the traditions away and the community has fragmented into the old and new residents. The old shops and stores are being replaced by supermarkets and chain stores. A new cinema opens to great applaud with one of Sally's films debuting the opening. Dean now drives a Land Rover on the land and Thomas a sedan for business meetings and status. Rory still walks and drives a trap to go places.
