A mechatronic system does not succeed one subsystem at a time. It succeeds only when mechanics, electronics, embedded computation, sensing, actuation, and feedback control behave as one coordinated system.

A control loop may work in simulation and oscillate once mechanical compliance enters the real machine. A sensor may meet its specifications and still produce unusable measurements under electrical noise. Embedded code may run correctly in isolation yet destabilize the physical system when timing constraints are ignored.
