This book presents the development and application of the Floating Admittance Matrix (FAM) technique for the analysis of two-port electronic networks involving active devices such as JFETs, MOSFETs, and BJTs. Generalized equations based on first- and second-order cofactors of the floating admittance matrix are developed to provide a systematic approach for circuit analysis. The study establishes mathematical models of active devices for both low- and high-frequency operations and applies them to the analysis and design of amplifier circuits. Important parameters such as voltage gain, current gain, input resistance, output resistance, and power gain are derived using the FAM approach, demonstrating its advantages over conventional small-signal equivalent circuit methods. The work also introduces a novel technique for realizing very large positive and negative resistances, which is useful for line-loss compensation and improving the quality factor of electronic circuits. Overall, the proposed FAM method offers an efficient and generalized framework for modern analog circuit analysis and design.
