À travers des anecdotes vécues, des observations du quotidien et une réflexion profonde sur nos comportements collectifs, l'auteur explore les mécanismes invisibles qui transforment un individu en étiquette.
Vous découvrirez notamment l'histoire de ce jeune homme qui, lors d'un dîner mondain, affirmait conduire des motos-crottes dans Paris et fut aussitôt ignoré par l'ensemble des convives. Vous participerez également à une étonnante réunion de chefs d'entreprise où une simple question sur les passions révéla davantage sur les participants que leurs cartes de visite et leurs fonctions réunies.
Au fil des chapitres, le livre interroge notre rapport au travail, au statut social, au chômage, à la retraite, aux réseaux sociaux et même aux sites de rencontre. Il met en lumière une contradiction troublante: nous affirmons que chaque être humain possède une valeur unique, tout en passant une grande partie de notre temps à l'évaluer à travers son métier, ses revenus ou son niveau d'études.
Cet ouvrage n'est ni un manifeste contre le travail ni une critique du succès professionnel. C'est une invitation à regarder les autres autrement.
