À combien vendre ? La question paraît simple. Pourtant, beaucoup de tarifs naissent encore d'un mélange assez étrange entre les charges, la concurrence, une marge que l'on espère raisonnable, ce que l'on aimerait gagner et, quelque part au milieu, un à ce tarif, ils vont acheter, c'est sûr ! . D'autres prennent le chemin inverse et décident qu'il suffit désormais d'assumer sa valeur en augmentant fortement leurs prix sans toujours proposer l'expérience client adéquate.
Dans les deux cas, une question demeure: sur quoi votre prix repose-t-il réellement ?
Votre tarif existe dans votre économie, bien sûr, mais aussi dans l'esprit de celui qui le reçoit. Votre client peut croire payer une journée, un audit, quelques heures de conseil ou un livrable, alors que vous pensez lui vendre une expertise, une réduction de risque, du temps récupéré, une erreur évitée ou une décision rendue plus sûre. Tant que ces deux représentations ne se rencontrent pas, votre tarif reste fragile: il se compare facilement, se négocie ou devient difficile à défendre en interne.
Ce deuxième vadémécum consacré au Prix vous propose donc de sortir du tarif fixé un peu au pif . Parce qu'une séance de spiritisme n'a jamais constitué une bonne stratégie tarifaire.
Vous apprendrez à distinguer cinq repères complémentaires: le prix plancher, sous lequel vous commencez à vous mettre en difficulté; le prix viable, qui permet à votre activité de durer sans vous abîmer; le prix de marché, qui situe l'univers de comparaison dans lequel votre client vous place; le prix de valeur, relié à ce que votre offre crée, récupère, sécurise ou évite de perdre; et le prix défendable, celui que votre acheteur pourra encore expliquer lorsque vous ne serez plus là pour porter la valeur à sa place.
Mais déterminer un montant ne suffit pas. Une architecture tarifaire organise la décision. Heure, journée, forfait, diagnostic, abonnement, options, périmètre, gratuité ou capacité réservée: chaque choix modifie ce que votre client comprend, compare et accepte. Un prix trop bas peut attirer des comportements coûteux; un prix élevé sans preuve crée, lui, une dette de justification.
Vous apprendrez également à regarder autrement le fameux c'est trop cher . Parle-t-on réellement du budget disponible ? De valeur perçue ? Du risque de se tromper ? De la difficulté à justifier la dépense ? D'une alternative qui semble moins coûteuse ? Plutôt que de dégainer mécaniquement cher par rapport à quoi ?, vous pourrez identifier ce qui fragilise réellement la décision.
Le livre montre aussi comment rendre visibles le coût de l'inaction, les coûts cachés et les alternatives réelles. Ne rien faire, bricoler en interne, reporter ou choisir moins cher ne coûte jamais réellement zéro. L'enjeu consiste à rendre ces conséquences visibles sans dramatiser, afin que le client compare des décisions plutôt que deux montants isolés.
Vous travaillerez enfin la cohérence entre prix et positionnement, la lisibilité de vos niveaux d'offre, les remises et leurs contreparties, la hausse ou la baisse des tarifs, leur sensibilité au marché et la capacité de votre acheteur à porter votre proposition auprès d'un associé, d'une direction ou d'un service achats.
