The synthesis of nanosystems is a major challenge in the industrial sector, where the race toward system miniaturization is in full swing. We have chosen copper oxide (Cu₂O), a promising material in the field of photovoltaics with very interesting physicochemical properties. The main objective of this work is to fabricate p-type Cu₂O layers by adjusting the electrodeposition parameters and to determine the optimal preparation parameters for the fabrication of a Cu₂O-based solar cell. We investigated the effect of the solvent and the applied potential on the properties of Cu nanostructures electrodeposited onto ITO, Au, and W substrates. First, we investigated the mechanisms of electrodeposition using cyclic voltammetry and chronoamperometry, and analyzed the samples using various structural, morphological, and optical characterization techniques.
