The purpose of this book is to investigate the factors influencing repayment of revolving loans under the Uganda Women Entrepreneurship Programme (UWEP) in Kibaale District, Uganda. The Programme is faced with the issue of low repayment rates, with Kibaale District recording only 43%, threatening its sustainability. Specifically, it investigated how the type of enterprise financing, training in business development and financial management, loan diversion, supervision and monitoring, borrower mindset, and peer pressure affect loan repayment. The study concludes that successful loan repayment under UWEP requires more than just financial disbursement. It relies on changing mindsets, strong institutional support, and the important aspect of choosing viable enterprises. The study suggests mandatory pre-loan financial literacy training, depoliticizing program implementation, strengthening monitoring systems, and incorporating digital tools to track loan performance. Additionally, group cohesion should be prioritized when selecting beneficiaries, and enterprises should be guided by market feasibility to improve sustainability.
