With the intensification of human activities to meet current needs, large amounts of waste have been generated without adequate final disposal. In Brazil, agribusiness is one of the sectors responsible for generating by-products with polluting potential, which are often discarded into the environment without any type of treatment. However, agribusiness waste such as coffee husks, rice husks, sugarcane bagasse, among others, are considered renewable raw materials due to their lignocellulosic composition. Therefore, different bioprocesses have been carried out with the aim of obtaining value-added molecules from these biomasses. In this book, we sought to maximize the conditions for obtaining total phenols through alkaline hydrolysis (delignification) of coffee husks, a by-product of the coffee industry.
