Today's infrastructure is made of a variety of materials, such as metals, alloys, glass, plastic, wood, ceramic, silicate brick, and natural stones. Bridges, pipelines, buildings, and systems of land and marine transportation are all at serious risk from corrosion. Steel corrosion in concrete caused by chloride is one of the most evident examples of this phenomena.
