Beginning with the Millerite movement and the Great Disappointment of October 22, 1844, Prof. Sixbert SANGWA traces how an anticipated visible return of Christ was reinterpreted as an invisible event in the heavenly sanctuary. He then examines the development of the investigative judgment, Ellen G. White's prophetic role, Sabbath observance as an end-time test, the remnant-church claim, last-generation perfection, the close of probation, Satan as the antitypical scapegoat, conditional immortality, health reform, and other significant teachings.
Drawing upon Scripture, current Seventh-day Adventist Fundamental Beliefs, the Church Manual, Ellen White's own writings, official White Estate explanations, Adventist historical sources, and responsible scholarship, the book presents Adventist arguments fairly before testing them carefully by the biblical text. It distinguishes direct contradiction from unsupported addition, disputed interpretation, literary dependence, historical revision, and failed or contested prophecy.
This is not an attack upon the dignity or sincerity of individual Adventists. It is a call to submit every prophet, institution, tradition, and theological system to the final authority of Scripture. Written clearly for readers with no previous knowledge of Adventism, the book also provides extensive evidence dossiers, doctrinal comparisons, rebuttals, a historical timeline, glossary, pastoral guidance, and a discipleship pathway for those leaving fear-based religion.
Above all, Beyond 1844 directs the reader beyond denominational identity and prophetic speculation to Jesus Christ, whose sacrifice is complete, whose priesthood is sufficient, and whose gospel offers assurance, freedom, holiness, and rest.
