A considerable amount of research has been done on the GPS signal acquisition processand various RFI mitigation techniques. GPS signal acquisition has been studied forfeasibility in hardware and software implementation, weak signal environments and finefrequency estimation. RFI mitigation at various stages in a GPS receiver from the GPSantenna to the navigation solution has been studied extensively except for the acquisitionprocess. RFI mitigation in the acquisition process has not been the focus of study mainlybecause of the few parameters controlling the acquisition process. This research studiesthe effect of the RFI signals in the acquisition process of a GPS receiver.
