From this moment on, only women shall sit on the Blooded Throne in the Red Tower . . . This shall continue until the time a motherless child will be brought here to rule. That child shall be the last of your line! Such is the fate of Lorkiff, born to rule the City of Death-Suke-a place steeped in prophecy and tradition. Yet unlike her thirty predecessors, she was not born of the evil which permeates the desert metropolis. Unknown to her, there is another prophecy-one given to the only Queen of Suke to escape the heinous Worship of The Flames. Imprisoned in an ancient stone altar, Ashkuria was told You will become part of this stone, sleeping a dreamless slumber, until the time your greatest granddaughter, the Precious Beauty...Lorynay Kyrryshy.Unfortunately for Lorkiff, the tyrannical Queen Shu-luk has other ideas...When Queen Shu-luk used the vast, magical powers of the Arcane to become, in effect, immortal, the old woman's hatred no longer need be hid. After all, does a pesky heir, who has nothing more than time-time to find ways of canceling immortality spells, actually have a use? Escaping from Suke, she finds herself deep in the lands of her enemies-The Followers of The Light. Surrounded by those who, like Shu-luk, would just as soon kill her, plagued by the doubts of a lifetime, Lorkiff must not only unravel the mystery of her own true identity, but live long enough to even have a chance at finding the peace her heart so desperately craves. Pursued by Landerin, her former prisoner and a man driven by intense hatred, Lorkiff takes the first, halting steps in becoming Lorynay Kyrryshy-The Precious Beauty-a destiny foretold over a thousand years before! This is the second volume in the Saga of Saint Lorynay Kyrryshy. This edition contains appendices which have added material and are edited specifically for this volume.
