The Mastery Quadrant (MQ) helps demystify the mindset and learning approach followed by masters, and helps explain why some people are able to develop much deeper expertise than others. The Mastery Quadrant is an intuitive, robust and easy to follow skill development framework. The framework defines 4 distinct quadrants, each of which represent essential steps towards building expertise in virtually any skill.
The MQ framework has been developed based on an extensive study of how masters across a wide range of disciplines went about developing their skills. This study revealed a similar approach that all masters followed (across ages and disciplines), when it came to 4 crucial steps (i.e. the Mastery Quadrants) that defined their approach to learning. These steps include the mindset with which they approached learning, using the power of deconstruction, a careful selection of their teachers and an extensive use of deliberate practice.
The MQ framework examines these 4 quadrants (Mindset, Deconstruction, Structured Learning, Deliberate Practice) in greater depth, and explains how it is the difference in approach towards these 4 learning quadrants that explains the substantial difference in performance between masters and amateurs.
