In a high-tech lab, a team of scientists creates a groundbreaking time machine integrated into a watch and a serum for time travel. Seven volunteers are selected for the first human trial, but a critical error leaves them with only one return serum. The group is split: two, Dr. Amelia Hughes and Dr. Robert Quinn, are sent to the prehistoric past, and the remaining five to an unknown future.
In the past, Amelia and Robert face immediate danger from dinosaurs and struggle to survive. They forage for food, build tools, and encounter both hostile and benign prehistoric creatures. While searching for food, they discover a cave with ancient drawings and stumble upon an advanced underground civilization powered by a colossal energy nucleus and led by a meditative king.
The ancient inhabitants, perceiving them as a threat, chase Amelia and Robert. In desperation, Robert uses the serum and watch to return to the present, inadvertently taking an energy stone from the ancient civilization.
Back in the present, Robert recounts their month-long ordeal in the past, which had lasted only half an hour in real-time. The lab scrambles to send a rescue team for Amelia. Alone and injured, she survives for two days before the rescue team arrives. Leading them back to the ancient civilization, they disrupt the forcefield and engage in a fierce battle, resulting in many deaths and Amelia's critical injury due to malfunctioning suits during emergency time travel.
Amelia is rushed to a special medical facility in the present, but her injuries prove fatal. In an emotional farewell, she dies in Robert's arms. Devastated, Robert vows to continue their work. In a final act of desperation, he touches the energy stone, absorbing its power, and sets the stage for future confrontations and discoveries.
