In the Lanirano-Androka mangrove, six sites were identified where we encountered five species of mangrove belonging to three families. The distribution of these species is determined by their biology and ecology (salinity, soil, hydrodynamics). The study area is characterised by a sandy-silty substrate and a semi-arid climate with summer rains. Despite its small size, the Lanirano mangrove is of great importance to local communities and, above all, to the many animal species that inhabit it. However, for a long time, this mangrove has been under significant pressure due to natural phenomena such as wind-related effects and factors linked to human activities. The data collected during this study provide us with a more comprehensive understanding of the Lanirano mangrove and the challenges it faces, enabling us to devise a strategy aimed at conserving this ecosystem.
