Orofacial myofunctional profile of patients undergoing orthognathic surgery: The stomatognathic system identifies a set of oral structures that perform common functions, with the mandible as a constant feature. Changes in the dynamics of this system interfere with craniofacial growth in such a way as to impair breathing, chewing, swallowing and speech. Orthodontic treatment combined with orthognathic surgery brings solutions to patients. Speech therapists are the professionals trained to carry out orofacial myofunctional therapy to restore stomatognathic functions and their balance. The aim of this study was to define orofacial myofunctional aspects in patients undergoing orthognathic surgery and post-operative speech therapy.
