La obra del Dr. Gómez Pérez representa un esfuerzo valioso y necesario por tender puentes entre disciplinas que históricamente han permanecido separadas: la neurociencia del sueño, la psicopatologÃa forense y la clÃnica de los trastornos de la personalidad. Su principal fortaleza reside en la honestidad intelectual con que aborda un tema susceptible de sensacionalismo. El autor no cae en la tentación de ofrecer respuestas fáciles ni de presentar los sueños como una ventana al alma del psicópata; por el contrario, insiste en los lÃmites del conocimiento actual y en la necesidad de mantener un escepticismo metodológico saludable. Esta postura es especialmente meritoria en un campo donde la sobreinterpretación de material simbólico ha causado daños significativos en el ámbito judicial.
La distinción entre psicopatÃa primaria y secundaria como bisagra conceptual que conecta el constructo con el trauma y las pesadillas resulta clÃnicamente fértil. Asimismo, el énfasis en la necesidad de diferenciar entre la presencia de violencia en el contenido onÃrico y la experiencia subjetiva de miedo constituye una contribución conceptual relevante que puede orientar tanto la investigación futura como la práctica clÃnica.
En conjunto, La interpretación de los sueños. En la mente del psicópata es una obra que cumple con creces su objetivo declarado: exponer con rigor lo que la ciencia permite afirmar -y lo que no permite afirmar- sobre la vida onÃrica de las personas con rasgos psicopáticos. Su principal valor es precisamente su honradez epistemológica y su capacidad para plantar preguntas sin pretender cerrarlas. El libro no resuelve el enigma que plantea, sino que lo formula con la claridad necesaria para que otros puedan abordarlo. En este sentido, constituye un punto de partida sólido y una referencia obligada para cualquier profesional interesado en la interfaz entre el sueño, la violencia y la evaluación forense, aunque el lector deberá complementar su lectura con un seguimiento crÃtico de la investigación empÃrica que, según el propio autor admite, está aún por escribirse.
