Qué es realmente un organismo vivo? Una máquina bioquÃmica extremadamente compleja, como nos ha enseñado la biologÃa del siglo XX, o algo más: una estructura de sentido, un sistema informativo capaz de mantener la forma, la identidad y la finalidad a lo largo del tiempo? La biologÃa de los campos surge de esta pregunta radical y acompaña al lector en un viaje que atraviesa la ciencia, la filosofÃa y las nuevas fronteras del pensamiento biológico.
En las últimas décadas, los avances de la genética molecular y la bioquÃmica han dado lugar a resultados extraordinarios, pero también han puesto de manifiesto los lÃmites de un paradigma puramente reduccionista. Explicar la vida como la suma de reacciones quÃmicas o como la mera ejecución de un código genético ya no basta para dar cuenta de fenómenos fundamentales: la forma, la coherencia del organismo, la autoorganización, la capacidad de adaptación creativa y, en última instancia, el significado biológico.
Este libro propone un cambio de perspectiva: considerar los organismos como estructuras informativas estabilizadas, sostenidas por campos de coherencia que preceden y organizan las partes materiales individuales. No se trata de una huida hacia lo vago o lo simbólico, sino de un intento riguroso de integrar aportaciones procedentes de la fÃsica de sistemas complejos, la biologÃa teórica, las neurociencias y una relectura crÃtica de las tradiciones vitalistas a la luz de los conocimientos contemporáneos.
Desde la crisis del paradigma bioquÃmico clásico hasta el problema sin resolver de la forma en la biologÃa evolutiva, el texto muestra cómo la vida puede entenderse más eficazmente si se concibe como un, un fenómeno de coherencia no local, en el que el todo no es el resultado de las partes, sino su condición de posibilidad. Desde esta perspectiva, los campos biológicos no son metáforas sugerentes, sino instrumentos conceptuales para describir cómo la información cobra forma, cómo la energÃa se convierte en organización y cómo el organismo mantiene su identidad dinámica.
Esta visión tiene profundas implicaciones también para la forma en que entendemos la salud y la enfermedad. La salud surge como un estado de coherencia global, mientras que la patologÃa se presenta como una fragmentación del campo, una pérdida de armonÃa informativa más que como un fallo mecánico. Al mismo tiempo, la vida se reinterpreta como un proceso cognitivo difuso: cada organismo, en su mera existencia, conoce, evalúa y responde al mundo.
La biologÃa de los campos abre un espacio de reflexión responsable, en el que la ciencia y la metafÃsica vuelven a dialogar sin confundirse. Una invitación a replantearse la vida no solo como un hecho natural, sino como un acontecimiento de sentido en el universo, y el saber biológico como un conocimiento que implica, inevitablemente, también una elección cultural y ética.
