This book primarily discusses the treatment as well as complexities of pancreatitis in a comprehensive manner. Pancreatitis may be chronic or acute. Nearly 80% of acute pancreatitis (AP) cases are diagnosed to be a result of alcohol misuse and gallstone disease. Majorly, 10-25% cases of this disease are regarded as serious, leading to a related mortality rate of 7-30%. Serious complications like necrosis, hemorrhage, and infection present rates of up to 25%, 50%, and 80% mortality respectively. Other problems like pseudoaneurysm and pseudocyst formation, or venous thrombosis also increase morbidity and mortality to a lesser degree. The occurrence of pancreatic infection must therefore be avoided.
