Anaplasmosis is a global problem affecting many countries including Rwanda especially Kibirizi sector of Nyanza district, adversely affect animal health and causes huge financial losses due to death and high costs of treatment. This inspired me to do this survey to document to be used as basic source of information for further research in future. This study will, help local government authorities, policy makers, veterinary officers, and Girinka benefiaries to fight against bovine anaplasmosis by eradication of ticks as major vectors of Anaplasma marginale. After laboratory test, results will be sent back to the farmers and veterinary officers to treat properly positively infected cows and to set up appropriate biosecurity measures to control and eradicate ticks in Rwanda. High mortality and morbidity are observed among Girinka cows. Farmers have insufficient knowledge on modes of transmission of bovine anaplasmosis through ticks and poor knowledge about tick control. This causes bovine anaplasmosis to be endemic in that region, where it causes serious economic losses to cattle farmers esecially Girinka farmers.
