Postoperative pain in children is often underestimated by medical and paramedical staff. Poor pain management increases the risk of pain becoming ingrained and of changes in the pain threshold later in the child's life. Particular attention must be paid to the accuracy of pain thresholds, as well as to the proper assessment and treatment of postoperative pain in children. Objectives: The aim of the study was to assess the current knowledge of nurses and anesthesia technicians regarding the management of postoperative pain in children and to provide training for paramedical staff to improve pain management in children at our facility. Our survey revealed a lack of training for paramedical staff on the management of postoperative pain in children, the absence of standardized protocols, limited use of pain assessment scales for children, and low rates of morphine administration by nurses. This necessitates a strategy for ongoing and regular training of healthcare staff.
