Through Yacoub, a curious boy in 1938; Marta, the sharp-tongued keeper of the village oven; blue-eyed Hanné, feared for seeing too clearly; generations of bell founders, potters, mothers, exiles, survivors, and returning children, the history of Beit-Chabab unfolds from the ashes of 1305 to the dilemmas of the present day.
