Enjoyed this story very much. Now have to read the rest. It gets you caught up in the story and can't wait until the rest. I loved this book. Very interesting premise and the story kept me turning the pages. As soon as I finished I looked for the next book. A great start to the Hidden America series. Mythical creatures are woven into indigenous culture in a very interesting way. Piper's world is forever changed as she encounters unimaginable things, only to discover secrets about her family's past that tie her to a world she never knew existed.
At first, the story feels familiar with just enough odd turns of phrase to make you wonder. Soon enough, you realise that the story takes place in a world that is very similar, but not quite like our own. The universal unfairness of prejudice runs throughout the novel, appealing to the better things that make us equal.
Reveals are nicely paced, allowing you to guess at where things are heading, just before they come to light. Creative mythology, great characters and an existential threat come together in this enjoyable read. If you enjoy folk legends, unexplained occurrences, cozy romance and trying on new ideas, you are going to love this book! Get your copy today!
