Our research aims first and foremost to determine the quality of raw and potable water from the Ain Dalia Dam (eastern Algeria). To carry out this work, we conducted monthly monitoring from December 2013 to November 2014. The analyses focused on 18 physicochemical parameters; A descriptive analysis of the results revealed high turbidity and moderate mineralization in the raw water from the Ain Dalia Dam. After treatment, the concentrations of the parameters studied decreased significantly and remained below the maximum permissible values set by Algerian drinking water standards; however, this treated water intended for human consumption remains relatively hard (average total hardness [TH] = 29.5 F). An explanatory analysis of the results using principal component analysis (PCA) clearly showed a strong correlation between the hot season and temperature. In contrast, the cold season is strongly correlated with mineralization and pollution parameters.
