His idea is simple: it has been speculated that gene therapy can help to prevent cancer by replacing 'cancer genes', why not shift from targeting genes to replacing entire chromosomes? Every cancer patient has perfectly fine DNA that makes up the majority of their body. What would happen if you were to use that DNA and genetic engineering to replace the mutated DNA in cancer cells? You would no longer have cancer. This represents a paradigm shift that the author then continues to fully develop, explaining how it can be used to treat a number of disorders, improve the human condition, and transform health care.
