This book starts with Una the Sasquatch losing her family in a natural disaster, only to find a human infant and doing only what any mother would do: care for the infant. In this book, we also meet Jack, a detective in a large city who relocated back to his roots for a fresh start and a last-ditch effort to save his dying marriage. Jack takes the position of the police chief and finds himself and a long-time friend and anthropologist smack-dab in the middle of trying to locate this missing child. In their search, they encounter the unexpected and meet the most loveable character that I've ever encountered! Una will pull at your heartstrings, and Eve Paludan writes this character in such a way that makes you think that Sasquatches really do exist. If you are a fan of Harry and the Hendersons, you will love this book! So glad this is not a standalone book! One of the best books I have read this year!

That's exactly what Eve Paludan gives us. Tie that in with a natural disaster, a mysterious death, and a fascinating island off the coast of Washington... and you have a great read. The best part of Eve Paludan's books is her characters... they all have imperfections that make them so human and easy to relate to. This one was no exception! I can't wait to read the next in the series! Will Bigfoot be there, too, or will we get to meet a different mysterious creature?
