Marine Algae of Chandipur Coast: Diversity and Assessment presents a comprehensive investigation of marine algal diversity and coastal water quality from the Chandipur coastal region of Odisha, India. The book highlights the ecological importance of marine algae as key contributors to coastal productivity, nutrient cycling, and environmental stability. A total of 38 algal isolates representing 26 taxa belonging to Bacillariophyceae, Chlorophyceae, and Cyanophyceae were identified and analyzed using standard taxonomic and ecological approaches. The study emphasizes the dominance of Bacillariophyceae (diatoms), which constituted more than half of the total algal abundance, indicating a healthy and productive coastal ecosystem. Diversity assessment using Shannon-Wiener, Simpson's, and Pielou's indices revealed high species diversity, low dominance, and balanced species distribution within the coastal environment. Physico-chemical parameters including pH, temperature, electrical conductivity, total suspended solids, and total solids were evaluated to understand their influence on algal distribution and ecosystem stability. This book provides valuable baseline information on marine algae.
