Comic books go through ups and downs. At times they are popular as a stimulus to reading, at others they are hated by academics for being literature for the lazy. In the early 2000s, they returned to the spotlight. Faced with this situation, we decided to trace a panorama of the Ninth Art until we reached the Graphic Novel PAVOR ESPACIAR, by the cartoonist Gustavo Duarte, to describe the linguistic change and variation he seeks to represent through the so-called caipira speech, which retains linguistic traits from the 18th and 19th centuries.
