A famous author returns home to Naples to research the final book
in his trilogy on the life of legendary Neapolitan gangster Enzo Galdi.
''There is the world and then there is Naples. I was born in the Forcella district of the city on 25th July 1979. My father worked in the docks and my mother stayed at home looking after five kids. I was a bright kid; I never wanted to get in trouble which was never easy in our surroundings. I loved to read from an early age and I also loved to listen to Naples' many storytellers that you would find on every corner, and in every café across the bay. No surprise I went on to earn a living as a writer with some success. So much that my two novels about the life of legendary, Neapolitan gangster Enzo Galdi, were snapped up by Hollywood and turned into movies that went on to earn millions and a hatful of Oscars. Now, it is time to complete the trilogy. I have returned to Naples to research the final book in my Neapolitan gangster saga. ''The last days of Enzo Galdi.'' The story is told in flashback from 1943-2026, taking in Enzo's time in Sicily, with the legendary bandit Salvatore Giuliano, up until the final showdown in Naples' notorious, Poggioreale prison in 1981.
