In trying to describe Denis Law on the pitch, one word stuck in my mind. ''Electrifying.'' The king of the Stretford End. No offence to our French maestro, but I'm certain Eric Cantona would agree, when it came to the Lawman, there are kings and then there are kings of kings. Like a spark plug inside the penalty area, waiting, pouncing, be it an overhead kick, a flashing drive, hanging in the Old Trafford air like an eagle soaring before smashing home a header. Then the salute, the hands cupped in his sleeves, a raised arm to the heavens, the huge grin. Denis Law wore it all so well, as Rod Stewart, another in awe of him would certainly agree. I also heard Sir Alex Ferguson call him the ''greatest ever Scottish player.'' High praise indeed. Obviously, a sad time and truly feels to me like the end of a certain era. Of course we have our statue, we have You Tube and reds blessed to see them play tell us tall tales. The modern Manchester United is beset by troubles and strife on the pitch and off. The best of times have become the worst. So, it's nice for once to write about one of my dad's heroes. Remembering Denis at his frightening peak, charismatic, deadly, fighting the red cause, kicking the defenders before they kicked him! Denis Law. Our Lawman.
