As the co-founder of Your Divorce Made Simple, Amy Colton pioneered the Kitchen Table Divorce, a cross between financial planning and mediation that saves divorcing clients money, time, and emotional stress. Amy works with couples and individuals to negotiate the division of assets and assess their financial-planning needs-ideally before they hire divorce attorneys. By educating them on their financial options, Amy inspires couples toward win-win outcomes.
Through the Kitchen Table Divorce, most of Amy's clients complete their divorce in 90 days for under $10,000, much less than national average for attorney-led divorce of 12 to 18 months costing anywhere from $15,000 to over $100,000.
Amy is a Certified Divorce Financial Analyst (CFDA(R)), a Certified Divorce Specialist (CDS(R)), a Family Law Mediator, a National Social Security Analyst (NSSA), and a wealth advisor. Amy spent 40 years in the technology and pharmaceutical industries-including two decades as one of the earliest women managers at IBM. In 2013, she became a financial advisor who specializes in working with women to get their financial house in order..
She is a graduate of the University of Michigan and earned her MBA at Michigan State University.
In addition to writing The Kitchen Table Divorce, Amy is the author of a memoir, Have We Really Come a Long Way, Baby? A Woman's Journey Through Corporate America From 1976 to 1996.
She lives in Austin, Texas.
