Growing up in Trinidad, I was intrigued by the folklore stories that my mother would narrate to us as kids. Such was my inquisitive nature, I set about at an early age to investigate and find these 'Jumbies' as they are colloquially known.
The prospect of coming face to face with a Largahoo, Douen, Soucouyant, La Diablesse, Papa Bois or the thrill of chopping a Silk Cotton tree at midnight to see if it bleed blood filled me with great anticipation, fervour, and fear alike.

The search for these Jumbies took me to some strange places and forests around the country in pursuit of these legendary folklore of Trinidad and Tobago. The rewards was always a good beating with a thick leather belt from my mother. These harsh punishments did little to deter me from finding these Jumbies in town.
