Questo libro nasce dal desiderio di esplorare e meditare la ricchissima spiritualità di Don Divo Barsotti (1914-2006), figura luminosa del XX secolo, mistico, teologo e fondatore della Comunità dei Figli di Dio. La sua visione spirituale, radicata nella tradizione monastica e profondamente intrisa di esperienza contemplativa, si rivela oggi più che mai attuale per chi cerca un'autentica vita interiore nel mondo contemporaneo.
Nel cuore del pensiero di Barsotti troviamo un'intuizione centrale: il monachesimo come realtà interiorizzata, una vocazione universale alla vita interiore che non si esaurisce nei confini della clausura, ma si apre a ogni battezzato come chiamata a fare del proprio cuore un monastero. In questa prospettiva, la consacrazione non è più un privilegio di pochi eletti, ma il destino di ogni esistenza cristiana: vivere in Cristo, come Cristo, per Cristo.
Accanto a questa visione, Barsotti invita anche a un profondo sguardo sul rapporto tra il creato e il sacro. La deconsacrazione del creato, da lui denunciata, non è solo una perdita liturgica o teologica, ma il segno di una frattura tra l'uomo e il mistero. Il mondo, da segno trasparente del divino, è diventato opaco: il compito del cristiano è allora quello di riscoprire il volto di Dio nella materia, nel tempo, nella storia.
A fondamento di questa riflessione si colloca una rilettura contemplativa e teologica dei primi versetti della Genesi. I testi di Genesi 1,1-2 e Genesi 1,3-5, oggetto di meditazione nei capitoli che seguono, offrono una chiave ermeneutica potente per comprendere l'agire di Dio come principio e come luce: il principio come inizio non cronologico ma ontologico, e la luce come prima parola creatrice che segna l'irruzione del senso nel caos. La spiritualità barsottiana legge in questi versetti non solo l'origine del mondo, ma il dramma dell'inizio spirituale di ogni uomo, chiamato a passare dal nulla alla comunione con Dio.
Queste pagine vogliono essere, più che una trattazione accademica, un itinerario meditativo, una guida alla preghiera e alla riflessione personale, seguendo le tracce lasciate da un'anima che ha vissuto nell'adorazione e nel silenzio. In un'epoca affollata di parole e povera di senso, la voce profetica di Divo Barsotti ci richiama all'essenziale: Dio solo basta.
