What if the dogs who come into our lives are here for a reason greater than we ever imagined?
For anyone who has loved a dog as family, losing that faithful companion can leave an emptiness that is difficult to describe. It can also leave a lingering question: Will we ever see our special dogs again?
God's Dogs offers a touching and imaginative answer through three inspirational stories, Eva's Dog, God's Hope, and God's Dream Chaser.
At the heart of these stories is an extraordinary premise. When a good person takes a life while saving someone else and dies in the act, that soul arrives at Heaven carrying the weight of having broken one of God's commandments. Because the act was committed to save another, God offers the soul an opportunity for redemption: return to Earth as a dog and spend a lifetime serving humankind.
What follows are stories of remarkable dogs whose lives become intertwined with people who need them most.
They guide. They protect. They serve. They comfort. And above all, they love.
From the bond between a blind girl and the dog who becomes her eyes and protector to stories touched by military service, sacrifice, trauma, companionship, and loss, God's Dogs explores why some animals seem to possess an almost human understanding of the people entrusted to their care. The stories suggest that perhaps what makes a truly special dog extraordinary is not simply the animal we see, but the soul within.
Written for dog lovers, people grieving the loss of a beloved pet, and readers drawn to inspirational stories about faith, Heaven, redemption, and unconditional love, God's Dogs offers a comforting possibility:
Perhaps our special dogs are not absent from Heaven after all. Perhaps the souls we knew and loved have simply completed their journey home.
