Vascular embolization procedures, either as stand-alone therapy or as an adjunct to other procedures such as aortic aneurysm repair, are increasing in frequency with the growth of endovascular treatments for vascular disease and the development of new embolization techniques and technology. Traditionally, many embolization procedures are performed by non-vascular surgeons; however, embolization has become a critical component in the management of many vascular problems.
