Born into a scholarly family in Taichung, Taiwan, where both her paternal lineage and her mother were deeply versed in calligraphy, Lillian Don was immersed in the art from an early age. She later studied under renowned calligraphy master Wu Jianlun and has devoted more than six decades to the practice of brush and ink. Having lived abroad for many years and now residing in the United States, her artistic vision is enriched by a broad life experience that lends her work a distinctive balance of tradition, openness, and quiet wisdom.
Each quotation in this volume is rendered through Lillian's highly recognizable calligraphic style-refined yet expressive, restrained yet emotionally resonant.
