This research project is entitled: Discursive forms and intercultural processes in accounts of exploration in equatorial Africa from the 15th to the 19th century. Comparatisme et scénographie dans la mise en scène des récits de voyage: du discours du voyageur chez Paul Du Chaillu, Victor de Compiègne, Alfred Marche et Pierre Savorgnan de Brazza. The aim is to analyze the texts of the five European explorers in Equatorial Africa prior to the actual implementation of colonization. These accounts bring into play the processes of discovery, contact and cultural change observed in these lands. This research is structured in 3 parts. The first is entitled Issues of scenography in exploration narratives. It focuses on the staging that unfolds in the narration of exploration stories. The second is entitled Le rapport narratif qui découle du récit d'exploration. It looks at the processes involved, showing how the intercultural processes described in the narratives are written and organized. Finally, the third part deals with Exploration narratives and their literary and cognitive impact.
