An alien commander comes to Earth to judge humanity. Then he wakes up inside a crow.

Along the way, he meets the humans no orbital report could capture: a boy who believes him, a mother who protects him, a police officer who owes him her life, disaster volunteers rebuilding through loss, a scientist willing to open a cage, and ordinary people who choose mercy before permission.
But when Pyr-Zesper's people return, Earth's fate depends on the testimony of a commander no longer fully alien-and no longer merely a crow.
