Franz Bardon called it the cosmic language - the twenty-seven phonemes of his Quabbalah, each a color, a tone, an element, a sensation, a location in the body: organ, elemental region, or the whole form at once.

The Cosmic Language traces that system back to its deepest available point of comparison: the Kashmir Śaiva doctrine of the mātṛkā, in which the fifty letters of Sanskrit are not symbols but the actual sonic body of the goddess - a doctrine documented with extraordinary precision in the Tantrasāra and Tantraloka of Abhinavagupta.
