This study examines the social and community involvement of youth with intellectual developmental disorder (IDD). The study was conducted among the primary caregivers of youth with IDD. The study also explores the accessibility and encouragement that the caregivers give the youth for their social inclusion. The study adds the themes like family dynamics, challenges, strategies implemented, government support networks. The research emphasis a qualitative approach by using semi-structured interview schedule as a tool to know more about the social inclusion and community involvement of youth with intellectual developmental disorder. The result shows that most of the youth with Intellectual Developmental Disorder are integrated in the society with the help of the caregivers of the special schools. The result shows that while caregivers understand the advantages of being included in the community, they frequently run against barriers to meaningful engagement, such as social stigma, accessibility issues and lack of social networks.
