The format discusses lesions by site rather than by disease process because this is the order in which the lesions are encoutnered in the course of gross placental examination. Am. J. Surg. Pathol.
Those with experience in examining placentas will most appreciate Kaplan's selection of what is difficult to explain in words but is significantly more clear when presented in picture form. All of the common disorders are represented in a way that educates and illustrates. J. Perinatology
